Best Places to Eat in Central Phoenix
and around the Valley (Including Scottsdale) - Always!!
Richardson's New Mexico Cuisine on 16th Street and Bethany Home Road.
Or, if you'd like to be a little more exact, their address is
,
Phoenix. Richardson's is THE
Home of New Mexico Cuisine. Mmmmm! The best gift you could give
is a gift certificate to this F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S establishment. May I highly recommend
their bacon-wrapped shrimp? These things were
grilled to perfection and served with three zippy
sauces on a plate of beans and rice. Mmmmm. Call ahead for
reservations. The place is not large and always packed.
located at
has delicious and
authentic Persian food that will tantalize the most discriminating
epicurean. Exotic and flavorful with excellent presentation and a very
pleasant atmosphere that is a wonderful dining experience. Click their
business name (above) and take a look at their menu.
Rokerij is also owned by the Richardson
folks and is a cozy place to dine with half circle booths and tons of comfy
pillows. It's a hop, skip and a jump from Richardson's (duh).
Better yet, the menu items are just as scrumptious and exotic as you'll
find... many of them รก la carte! Visit the downstairs if you'd like
another cozy atmosphere for cocktails. The address to Rokerij is
.
TexAZ Grill - Truly right across the way from Richardson's on the NE
Corner (Across from Starbuck's). Their filet mignon is like butter!
Homestyle steaks and much, much more! And, if you're up for clogging
your arteries... may I suggest their country-fried steak? (I'd never
eat it in its entirety, but I have nibbled on it.)
My Big Fat Greek Restaurant - Always open for late night dining
and never a bad meal or service. It's a wonderful atmosphere and the
service truly is impeccable. These folks take pride in delivering
their delicious dishes to your table quickly. It gets a little noisy
at times and the bar area is full of pretty people... but hey, just say Opa!
and open your mouth for another bite! Find them conveniently located
.
- This was a birthday treat of a lifetime! The food is good
and yes, it is an authentic Greek restaurant, complete with Belly Dancing,
Live Band and all the plates you care to break on the dancefloor - Opa!!
They've taken over the number one Greek fave spot in my little world!
Greektown on 7th Street past Alice. Oh My God! You
simply must order the Chilean Sea Bass. It is the
best fish I have ever eaten in my life. The owner has
this flown in. You simply can't get anything more fresh. George
has one of the better (my favorite) appetizers here: Saginaki Flambeau.
You know... the cheese soaked in brandy and set ablaze
at it is delivered to your table? Opa! Served on warmed pita
with a little lemon juice squeezed on it. Decadent. Serenity on a plate.
Driving Tips
If you're on the road and stuck in traffic, you can dial
511 on your cell phone. Key in the freeway and it will
tell you of construction / road obstructions, etc. Very
handy when it's the parking lot at rush hour.
Weird things about Phoenix (and the Valley)
There are four star restaurants and churches located
in strip malls. There have been arrests involving a 77-year-old and her
75-year-old boyfriend for a meth lab in a retirement
community! A lot of homes have termites and strange bugs are to be
expected from time to time.
